Become a Main Stage Community Theatre Volunteer

Volunteers are critical to the success of the Main Street Youth Theatre.  In fact, without volunteers and sponsors, we wouldn’t exist.  Most jobs are simple and require minimal time commitments, however with an army of volunteers, we can do amazing things. Listed below are some of our ongoing needs:

USHER (must be 16 yrs of age)
Ushers arrive at the theatre one hour prior to show time.  One usher is staffed at each door for every performance.  Ushers welcome guests, hand out programs, close and open doors at intermission and pick up stray programs in the house following the performance.

CONCESSIONS
Concessions staff arrives an hour and a half before show time.  Typically two volunteers are sufficient.  Workers put out snacks and drinks, sell concessions before the show and at intermission.

PRODUCTION ASSISTANT
We are always on the lookout for production help – whether it is swinging a hammer, painting a set, focusing a light or helping backstage during a show.

GREEN ROOM ASSISTANT
Volunteers must arrive 1 hour prior to show time.  They are responsible for bringing a  large bag of ice.  Primary job is to assist show members and keep the room as quiet as possible.

COSTUMES
Can you sew?  Are you creative?   Do you enjoy transforming things into something different and new?  We can use your skills!

CARPENTERS
We always need people to help construct sets.  Any basic carpentry skills will do.

SET PAINTERS
With every new show, comes a new set to be painted.  You don’t have to be Picasso, you just need to be willing to wield a brush.  The painting is usually fairly simple & we’ll show you what needs to be done.

LIGHTS AND TECHNICAL SUPPORT
If you are willing, we will train you.  We need people to run lights (spots) for shows as well as work the sound board.

FUNDRAISERS
Anyone willing to help contact businesses/individuals as well as identify unique ways to raise funds are always welcome on our team.

OTHER
We are always in need of extra sets of hands to do everything from organizing the costume room, hanging production posters around HH, painting, electricians, plumbers, HVAC, sewing and more.  We need you….just ask!
